Frequently Asked QuestionsRoute, Pricing & Booking

Clear answers about the Cusco to Hidroelectrica bus, Platinum Luxury vs Platinum Class, prices, and how to book the shuttle to Machu Picchu via Hidroelectrica.

What time does the bus depart from Cusco?

Whether you board in Cusco or Ollantaytambo, please be at the pickup point at least 20 minutes before boarding time.

📍 Departure point from Cusco: Main Square (Plaza Mayor), in front of ATM BCP, Calle Espaderos. Be there by 06:25 AM — departs 06:45 AM sharp.

📍 Departure point from Ollantaytambo: At the Ollantaytambo junction entrance. Please be there by 08:35 AM — boarding is at 08:55 AM.

What is the difference between Platinum Luxury vs Platinum Class?

Both follow the same route and schedule — but the experience is very different.

🥇 Our Platinum Luxury ($19 / $26 with lunch) — the only fully equipped service on the route: Wi-Fi Starlink, Netflix TV Cinema, A/C + heating, super ergonomic seats, USB-A & USB-C (iPhone) charging, and luggage up to 10 kg. Max 14 passengers in a premium vehicle.

⚠️ Platinum Class ($22 / $30 with lunch) — standard comfortable transport, USB-A charging only, no internet, no ergonomic seats, luggage up to 5 kg.

Does the bus go directly to Machu Picchu?

The bus takes you from Cusco to Hidroelectrica station. From there you walk 11 km (approximately 2.5 hours) along a flat Amazon trail alongside the train tracks to Aguas Calientes — the town at the base of Machu Picchu. It's one of the most beautiful walks in Peru.

What is the Bus + Lunch package?

The Bus + Lunch package includes everything in the Solo Bus package, plus a lunch at Santa Teresa during the 12:40 PM stop. This is a 35-minute rest at a restaurant we recommend, in a beautiful valley. Platinum Luxury + Lunch is $26.

Is the return trip included?

Our packages are one-way (Cusco → Hidroelectrica). We also offer the return trip as a separate booking. The return bus picks up at Escobar station between 2:00–2:50 PM and arrives in Cusco around 9:45 PM at Plaza San Francisco.

Why is it cheaper to book direct?

Hostels, agencies and travel desks resell our seats at a markup of $3–$4 per person. When you book directly with us as the operator, you pay the official price. Same vehicle, same driver, same route — you just pay less and get direct WhatsApp support.

Can I book last minute?

We recommend booking as early as possible — seats are limited per departure and no walk-ins are accepted on the day. In peak season (June–August, December–January), seats can sell out days in advance. Contact us on WhatsApp as soon as possible if you need a same-day booking.

How long is the Amazon trail walk from Hidroelectrica?

The walk from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes is 11 km on a flat trail alongside the train tracks through cloud forest. It takes approximately 2.5 hours at a normal pace. The trail is well-marked, mostly flat, and one of the most spectacular walks in Peru — not included in the bus service but well worth doing.

How do I book and when will I receive confirmation?

Select your package above and complete the secure payment through WeTravel. You will receive a confirmation within 1–3 hours with all coordination details — pickup point, driver contact and WhatsApp support. You can also contact us directly on WhatsApp before booking.

What should I bring on the bus?

Wear comfortable clothes in layers — Abra Málaga pass can be cold (~4°C) while Hidroelectrica is warm and humid. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent and your ID/passport. Platinum Luxury: luggage up to 10 kg. Large suitcases are not recommended.
